The Lima Rotary Club is honored to have hosted the Bath High School Interact Club graduation.
The Lima Rotary Club welcomed more than 30 members of the  Bath High School Interact Club to Monday's meeting. Interact is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young people aged 12-18, designed to provide opportunities for service, leadership development, and friendship. The Bath High School Interact Club has approximately 75 members who participate in service projects throughout the year, including the Ottawa River Cleanup and volunteering at the West Ohio Food Bank. At Monday’s meeting, members who have volunteered at least 24 hours this year received service pins or patches and certificates. Ezrah McKissick told us that Interact sparked her desire to serve. "Bath High School's Interact Club has given me the opportunity to take positive action in my community. To me, this is volunteering. Harvesting what is around you, growing and strengthening your community, and finding ways to serve others before yourself." This was the final year for Interact advisor Telea McKissick; next year Rick Shields will be the Interact advisor.

Also at Monday's meeting, Lima Rotary Foundation President Berlin Carroll gave an update on this quarter's activity. The Foundation met on May 5 and voted to present a $500 grant to the Star Spangled Spectacular in support of the children's fishing derby, and $1,500 to the Autism and Disability Advocacy Team which provides education and training to first responders and other organizations about autism and hidden disabilities.
