It was an Interact/Rotaract takeover at Rotary!
What a fun time as the Bath High School Interact Club and the UNOH Rotaract Club conducted our meeting. Both groups have been heavily involved in community service. Interact showed a video of many of the activities, including volunteering at the Equestrian Therapy Program, West Ohio Food Bank, and a chili fundraiser. They have also decided to require any student who wants to participate in Interact to commit to at least 24 hours a year of community service. So far, 60 students have achieved that, and most of them were at Monday's meeting to receive certificates and pins. Great job, everyone! Rotaract has also been busy with things like the breast cancer walk, World Polio Day fundraiser, adopt-a-family for Christmas, human trafficking resource drive, adopt-a-highway and more. Both groups hope to grow their membership next year and continue to provide service above self.

Also at Monday's meeting, Johnny Appleseed Park District Director Kevin Haver was given a $5,000 check from the Lima Rotary Foundation to help rebuild the All People's Trail at Kendrick Woods. Haver told us he hoped it would be rebuilt by now, but the weather hasn't cooperated, and they were sent the wrong lumber and had to send it back, and now they're waiting for the correct lumber. Also, a gazebo is being built at Motter Metro Park, a new playground is going in at McLean Teddy Bear Park, Deep Cut is getting a new shelter house, another 4.5 miles of the Miami-Erie Canal trail is being finished this year from Zion Church Road to Delphos, the Kendrick Woods trail and parking are being improved, and a 12 acre park is being built on the Miami-Erie Canal with a staging area for hiking and biking. Haver says these projects are being funded primarily with donations and grants.
