Ikigai is the Japanese concept for the reason we wake up in the morning.
What makes your life worthwhile? Is there balance in your life? Ikigai can help you answer those questions by balancing four areas of your life: passion, mission, profession and vocation. Tim Sielschott explained that you should take what you love, what you're good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for, and balance them. Where those areas intersect is ikigai, the source of value in your life. Tim says he and his family review their goals every Christmas. "At least once a year we try to systematically really look at what we're spending our time and effort towards and having this concept helps keep that in mind." Tim says as you life changes, the size of the circles change. For example, "what you get paid for can drop to zero as you age, and "what you love" can move into a more prominent position.

Also at Monday's meeting, Jim Chiles honored the club's veterans for Veterans Day. He had them stand up and the club joined in a round of applause for their service and sang God Bless America.
