Ohio Fire Marshal promotes fire safety at Rotary.
There were 11,000 structure fires in Ohio last year, killing 109 people. Ohio State Fire Marshal Jeff Hussey told us that the best thing we can do to protect ourselves is to make sure our smoke detectors are working and be conscientious about replacing the batteries. He also recommended sleeping with your bedroom door closed. Hussey says if a fire breaks out, the door will block the it long enough for you to get out.
The Ohio Fire Marshal's office consists of eight bureaus that encompass fire prevention, fire investigation, code enforcement, forensics, the Ohio Fire Academy, Bureau of Underground Storage Tanks and Testing & Registration.
Also at Monday's meeting, Michael Ayers achieved Paul Harris +2, and Bob Ruehl gave an update on MESA's work providing medical supplies to countries that need them.
