10/21 - Arts Advocacy Luncheon

Our invocation was by Jon Rockhold - an interesting story about the Jaycee creed

Shannon O'Neill began the meeting with her version of "Autumn Leaves" - setting the tone for a delightful meeting. As one involved in the arts up to my elbow, it is delightful to see the approach this event has - one promoting the entire artistic loop. The creator/artist - advocate - and philanthropist cycle is critical in successful artistic network - none can exist without the other. Every vibrant community has a successful arts network at it's core - comprised of music, visual, and theatrical arts.Our guest speaker was Marc Folk, executive director of the Arts Commission of greater Toledo. He shared several projects with us that has been proven in Toledo - proven economically and artistically. You can look at his Arts Gallery Walks - the short north in Columbus, or the West Side Market area of Cleveland to see that the arts rebuilds neighborhoods.
