The Allen County Educational Service Center is using COVID dollars to help improve educational outcomes.
The Allen County ESC received $2.1 million from the Ohio Department of Education to meet the needs of our local public schools. Superintendent Craig Kupferberg told us that they surveyed the schools and supporting agencies to see what they needed help with, and the top results were literacy, reading, STEM, and emotional and behavioral support. Craig says they asked for mini grant proposals from the schools that target those needs and were able to fund a number of them. He introduced several educators who spotlighted some of the programs that were awarded grants and all said they're seeing good results and lots of excitement from the children. They say that the programs are moving students forward academically, emotionally and behaviorally. "We're off to a great start with the implementation of these high quality projects throughout Allen County and continue to feel the excitement as the work continues in our districts, our classrooms and in our hearts and minds."
