Local churches are working together to help homeless families.
Our Sgt. at Arms was Art Brinkman, with fellowship provided by Butch Kirk. Butch reminded us that his expertise is in industrial tank construction and maintenance, and in that profession - he's the best there is.
His comedy was "not so much" - but I did laugh more than once, which says a lot for a Monday...
Esther made a special announcement that all Bob Evans Lima locations are helping us raise money for World Polio Day - October 23rd (THR) from 6 to 9pm. A portion of your dinner will be donated to the Polio Plus program. So treat your significant other to an evening down on the farm, and raise some money, OK?
Today's program was all things Family Promise, from our own members Charles Wolfe and Jill Ackerman. Family Promise differs from many organizations in that in addition to providing funds for homeless families - they actually house them using a series of member churches, help them find permanent employment and housing - thereby returning the family to health. Many families end up volunteering after they get on their feet - a testament to the program's success. With almost 50% of Lima children living below the poverty line - this group is constantly in demand, and is certainly worthy of our support.
