Allen County EMA encourage your to prepare for emergencies.
Northwest Ohio faces many hazards, both natural and man-made. Jared Gesler, the Director of the Allen County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management told us these range from tornadoes, flooding, and winter storms to chemical releases, power outages, and fires. He says the best way to deal with these disasters is to be prepared. He recommends having a disaster preparedness kit which includes a first aid kit, any medications you and your family need, a radio and flashlight with batteries, water, non-perishable food, and plastic and wide tape in case you need to cover your windows. He says your family and business should have a plan for how to respond in case of disaster and he recommends that you practice that plan so everyone knows what their role is and where they will meet if they get separated. His office has a text/email alert system which you can sign up for on their website, and he recommends having a weather radio as well.
