What a romantic day at Rotary!
Berlin Carroll's fellowship is one no one in attendance will ever forget. He asked Adah Ellerbrock to come to the stage, brought out his mother's engagement ring, got down on one knee and proposed to her! Of course, Adah said yes. Congratulations to the happy couple! You can watch the proposal through this link:
Also at Rotary, Jill Ackerman told us about the new artificial intelligence software that the Lima City Schools will soon begin using. It's called Watson Classroom, developed by IBM. Crews spent two months entering all data the school system has on its students. Now teachers and faculty can pull up detailed information about students with the touch of a button."Watson will turn data into insights that lead to decision making," says Ackerman. She says they have struggled for years to take all their data and use it to help students achieve, and she expects Watson to help them boost productivity and improve the students' learning. Teachers will initially use Watson for 5th through 8th grade students but Ackerman hopes to expand the software to all students. The Lima City School District is one of ten districts around the country trying the software as part of a pilot program.
