This week was another segment of Rotary Q&A, which is proving to be quite popular. Jeff Tracy facilitated, with the questions "What is the furthest place you have traveled to", and "What is your favorite activity?" Answers were interesting and varied - we learned that Carl Feltz is well on his way to golfing in all 50 states, that Cindy Wood would like to own a bookstore and read every book, and that Paul Yessenow's favorite activity is not suitable for conversation in mixed company.
December 2nd is our annual Christmas auction - please mark you calendars for this evening event. More details to follow...
We will also be hosting a morning meeting once per month, in order to provide additional fellowship and an option to makeup. More details to follow...
David Collins introduced our speaker - Linda Pollits - director of the NW Ohio Alzheimers Association. She pointed out the rapid growth of the disease in the US - that there have been no new medications since 2003 - and that more research dollars are needed considering the economic impact. (Over 9 billion per year in direct healthcare costs - with over 200 million in direct and indirect costs in treating the patients, personal expenses from caregivers, and home medical equipment costs.)
