APRIL BOARD OF DIRECTORS HIGHLIGHTS

 

The Lima Rotary Board of Directors met on April 12.  Among the items discussed and decided were the following:

 

 

  • Progress on reaching financial equilibrium remains slow.  One contributing factor may be electronic billing if members are over-looking or missing the email bills.  Reminders from the podium to look for electronic bills will be coupled with a reminder invoice mailed to everyone 60+ days outstanding as of April.
  • A brief review of the Annual Meeting concluded members seem comfortable with the process and action plan for 2011-2012.  The remarks by PE Courtney outlining his Four Priorities were particularly well received.
  • Officers elected for 2011-2012 were President, Jerry Courtney; President-Elect, James Osmon; and Vice-President Michael Schoenhofer.
  • The new DG (Helyn Bolanis) is expected to restore effective communications with local clubs which has been absent this year. 
  • District 6600 dues were increased by $10 per member annually to coincide with the end of the Polio+ assessment for a zero sum change in District dues. 
  • A strategic planning document is expected to be an agenda item at the May meeting with the hope it can be approved before July.
  • The resignation of James Brunner was accepted with regret. 
  • Several ideas from District meetings were shared:
    • Some clubs routinely ask local resident speakers to join Rotary
    • Some clubs highlight an individual member each week
    • Some clubs empower task teams to make decisions on club projects
    • A Presidents Council (Lima area) has been formed and met once.  President Councils are being formed throughout the District, meeting monthly for collaboration and potential joint venture international projects to access District grant funds.
  • The next meeting of the Lima Rotary Board of Directors will be May 10.
