August Board of Directors Highlights

The Lima Rotary Board of Directors met on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Shawnee Country Club. The following are highlights from that meeting:
- The first week of each month during Fellowship, President-Elect Mike Schoenhofer will be presenting something about one of the three websites including the clubs local site www.limarotary.com, Rotary International's site www.rotaryinternational.org, and the District 6600 site www.dacdb.com.
- The third week of each month during Fellowship, will be the Rotary Minute where one Rotarian will spend 3-5 minutes talking about their business/organization as a way to get to know other Rotarians.
- The Board adopted a Program Criteria Document to help refine what qualifies as a a good program for the Rotary Club. This will be posted in the eSpoke. Along this topic, the Board discussed ideas for programs that would be good in the next year including political presentations near the election, lawn care, active shooter training, Rotary international teens, educators evaluations, area University Presidents, new businesses in the community and the "I love Lima" campaign.
- The Board also discussed a survey that will go out later this fall so the results are collected by the end of the year to get feedback on food, meeting location, expectations of attendance/membership and learning new things in Rotary.
- The Board also agreed that a draft of a conflict resolution form will be created to help give Rotarians a place to channel concerns directly to the Board.
- The Board accepted resignations from Angelika Clark and Howard Koch as well as a new member application from Jessika Philips of NOW Marketing with an internet marketing classification.
- The City Club will be reconfigured to accommodate the extra visitors at the Football Coaches Lunch on August 27.
- The Lima Veteran's Memorial Civic and Convention Center will be host to the Rotary District Job Fair on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 9:30am. All Board members and Lima Rotarians are encouraged to attend.
- Jay Wenger and a membership committee will be taking over New Member Classification and checking references on new member applications.
- The Rotary Riverwalk maintenance will continued to be worked on by the Rotary Foundation in which a new agreement will be drawn up with the city and parks district. Board members discussed the opportunity the Riverwalk creates to pave the way for the rest of the community to maintain buildings and projects they began.
- Treasurer Cheryl Deitering presented the July Financial Report which was approved by the board. Eleven members rotarians will receive terms of termination letters for being 90 days past due. If those dues are not paid or a payment plan set up, they will follow the termination from membership policy.
- The meeting ran a little long and adjourned at 1:17pm.
- The next Rotary Board Meeting will be Tuesday, September 11 at 11:45am at Shawnee Country Club.
