Here are the highlights of the June 9 board meeting.
Call to Order Russ Decker
President Russ Decker called the meeting to order at 11:34 A.M. with the following board members present: Russ Decker, Craig Kupferberg, Chip Bullock, Berlin Carroll, Jennifer Mason, Aaron McLaurine. Also, Secretary Anne Decker, Troy Elwer, Carol Buettner, Melissa Ricker and Anisha Hale were present.

Approval of the May 12, 2026 Board Meeting Minutes
Bullock made a motion to approve the minutes of the May 12, 2026 board meeting. McLaurine seconded the motion. Board approved.
Attendance Report for May 2026
Six new members joined the club and two members resigned in May 2026. May attendance was 39.686%. The month ended with 129 active members and 5 honorary members.
President’s Report Craig Kupferberg
Blood Clinic
219 people attended the May 9 blood clinic. It grossed $17,357.11, with $12,945.00 in expenses for a profit of $4,452.11. The check presentation will be made to the foundation at the June 22 meeting.

Safety City Mini Pavilion Update
The mini pavilion at Safety City is finished. The ribbon will be cut at the June 15 meeting. The club will meet at the Red Cross for lunch and walk to Safety City for the ribbon cutting.

Ride For MESA
The annual bike ride for MESA will have an overnight stop in Lima on June 20. The riders will spend the night at Wingate by Wyndham thanks to donations from a number of club members. A dinner for the riders to be held on the patio between Wingate by Wyndham and the Civic Center. Rotarians and their families are welcome to attend at a cost of $15 per person and Nutrien is providing tickets for that night’s Lima Area Concert Band concert for anyone who would like to attend.

Red Cross Blood Drive
The American Red Cross has asked the Lima Rotary Club to host a blood drive before and after one of our regular club meetings. Discussions are ongoing.

America 250 Lima Event
On June 27, a celebration of America’s 250th birthday will be held at the Greater Lima Region Park & Amphitheater. The Lima Rotary Club will be passing out water, provided by Cenovus, at the event. The Allen County Fair is loaning us a cooler for the day. Six to eight volunteers are needed to work from 2-6pm.

Lima Locos
Rotary night at the Lima Locos is June 18. The club received 50 tickets for its $150 sponsorship and most were distributed at the June 9 club meeting.

International Grant Report
Anne Decker worked with the Rotary Club in San Pedro Sula, Honduras to file the final report for the Lima Rotary Club’s international grant. 225 latrines were constructed in Honduras with the $251,151 Rotary International grant.
Rex Perry Memorial Golf Outing
The Rex Perry Memorial Golf Outing is scheduled for August 19 at Hidden Creek Golf Club. Sponsorships and teams are being sought.

Treasurer’s Report
The club’s total income through May 31, 2026 is $101,321.68. Total expenses are $104,326.62. Net loss is $3,003.94.
Since neither the treasurer or bookkeeper were in attendance, Carroll made a motion to table the treasurer’s report until the July board meeting. McLaurine seconded the motion. Board approved.

McLaurine made a motion to approve application for membership from Tim Fitzpatrick, Business and Regional Workforce Development Director at the Allen Economic Group. Kupferberg seconded the motion. Board approved.

Bullock made a motion to approve the resignations of Julie Klingler and Scott Cockerell with regrets. Mason seconded the motion. Board approved

Kupferberg told the club that since it has been difficult to find people to do fellowship, he is thinking of doing it just once a month. He will replace it with other items such as happy dollars or committee reports.
Kupferberg also mentioned that the Kenton Rotary Club is looking for funds to replace a food truck that was damaged in a storm and he would like to pass the bucket at a club meeting. The board thought that was a good idea.
