Here are the highlights from the September 8th board meeting.
Call to Order Craig Kupferberg
President Craig Kupferberg called the meeting to order at 11:43 A.M. with the following board members present: Craig Kupferberg, Troy Elwer, Chip Bullock, Beth Seibert, Jennifer Mason, Josh Unterbrink. Also, Secretary Anne Decker and bookkeeper Amy Ricker were present.

Elwer made a motion to approve the minutes of the August 10 board meetings. Seibert seconded the motion. Board approved.
Attendance Report for August 2026
Four new members joined the club and one member resigned in August 2026. August attendance was 35.705%. The month ended with 127 active members and 5 honorary members.

AI Projects
Anne Decker met with Jayson Paglow to discuss ways AI can help with membership recruitment/retention, secretarial duties, grant writing and more. Paglow is researching potential integrations and will report back.

Rex Perry Memorial Golf Outing
Final numbers from the Rex Perry Memorial Golf Outing held on August 19 are not yet available, but the event is expected to have raised more than $21,000 for the Scholarship Fund.

Young Professionals
Kupferberg is looking into possible collaborations with Lima Young Professionals, a Chamber of Commerce organization for professionals from the ages of 18-45. Elwer is a member and will ask their board about ways to encourage YP members to join the Lima Rotary Club.

PolioPlus Campaign
The club’s annual PolioPlus campaign traditionally takes place in October. Kupferberg has spoken with a member interested in chairing PolioPlus. The club usually opens an online store in October for Rotary gear with $5 from each order going to the campaign. This quarter’s Rottery proceeds also go to the campaign.

Safety City Trick or Treat
Safety City Trick or Treat is Saturday, October 24 from 12:00-2:00. Kupferberg will purchase candy for the event from SWD Corporation. Volunteers will be needed to pass it out.
STEAM on the Quad
The Empowering Girls Committee will be passing out water provided by Cenovus at STEAM on the Quad on September 27 from 1:00-4:00 at the OSU/Lima campus. More than 800 children ages K-8 attend the event to explore hands-on activities that will improve their knowledge and interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. Volunteers are being sought.
Social Committee Survey
Kupferberg is conducted a survey to find out when members would prefer to attend social activities. Anne Decker will create a form and post it to the website and eSpoke.

Ohio Charitable Community Pharmacies
Kupferberg received a letter from Ohio Charitable Community Pharmacies which provides free to low-cost pharmacy services in Northwest Ohio and beyond. Kupferberg suggested they apply for a grant from the Lima Rotary Foundation and asked them to contact him if they would like additional support.

Holiday Home Tour
Holiday Home Tour
Decker reported that three homes have been secured for the 2026 Holiday Home Tour. Two more homes are being sought, with one of them preferably in the Elida area where one of the other homes is located.
Treasurer’s Report
Kupferberg stated that treasurer Jason Bice’s duties at work have changed and he is unable to dedicate the time to the treasurer’s position that it requires. He informed Kupferberg that he is willing to step down. Kupferberg reported that Russ Decker has offered to serve as interim treasurer until a permanent one is found. Mason made a motion to request a formal resignation from Bice, and, once received, appoint Russ Decker as interim treasurer while a new treasurer is sought. Unterbrink seconded the motion. Board approved.
Discussion was held about the club’s accounts receivable report. Elwer made a motion to revise the current letter the club sends to members with past due invoices. It will inform them they are 90 days in arrears and need to pay promptly or risk having their membership suspended. A second letter will be sent after 180 days telling them their membership has been suspended until their past due balance is paid. Ricker will send the letters to members with past due balances when she does the quarterly invoicing. Unterbrink seconded the motion. Board approved.

Elwer seconded the motion. Board approved.
