Here are the highlights from the December 10 board meeting.
Call to Order                                                                                                               Russ Decker
President-Elect Russ Decker called the meeting to order at 11:38 A.M. with the following board members present: Russ Decker, Jeff Unterbrink, Jennifer Mason, Richard Warren, Craig Kupferberg, Cory Frazier and Aaron McLaurine. Also, Treasurer Tracey Regula and Secretary Anne Decker were present.
 
Secretary’s Report                                                                                                     Anne Decker
Approval of the November 12, 2024 Board Meeting Minutes
McLaurine made a motion to approve the minutes of the November 12, 2024 board meeting. Unterbrink seconded the motion. Board approved.
 
Attendance Report for November 2024 
Two new members joined the club and one member resigned in November. November attendance was 38.889%. The month ended with 145 active members and 3 honorary members. 
 
President’s Report                                                                                                     Russ Decker
PolioPlus Campaign
Russ Decker reported that the club raised $3,388 in its PolioPlus campaign. In addition, $421 was collected for PolioPlus from last quarter’s Rottery drawings. The funds are being submitted to Rotary International immediately to take advantage of a 50% match being offered by District 6600 if made by December 31, 2024.
 
Special Needs Christmas Party
58 children attended the Special Needs Christmas Party, an increase from 35 last year. Including volunteers and entertainers, more than 100 people were in attendance.
 
Christmas Extravaganza
The Lima Rotary Club’s Christmas Extravaganza is December 16. The Liberty Arts Magnet Touring Company will be entertaining the club and Russ Decker promised some fun surprises.
 
Social
The annual Ugly Sweater Christmas Social has been scheduled for December 18 at 6:30pm at the Social House.
 
Christmas Bonuses
Mason made a motion to approve $300 Christmas bonuses for each of the club’s three regular servers from Milano’s and for Sammie Zimmerman from the Civic Center. Regula seconded the motion. Board approved.
 
Billy Gladwell Fundraiser
Mentalist Billy Gladwell has offered to perform for a fundraiser for the Lima Rotary Club. The social committee is hoping to schedule this in the first quarter of 2025.
 
Beer Barrel Fundraiser
Beer Barrel Pizza has offered to hold a fundraiser for the Lima Rotary Club in which the club would encourage its members and supporters to eat at Beer Barrel on a certain day and the club would receive a 20% donation of the total amount of the club supporters’ receipts on that day. The club is hoping to take advantage of this fundraiser in early 2025.

Holiday Home Tour
The Holiday Home Tour was a huge success. Russ Decker reported that more than 500 tickets were sold. The club will net $18,192 for the Lima Rotary Foundation. Four homes are already tentatively scheduled for the 2025 tour.
 
Rex Perry Memorial Golf Outing
Unterbrink reported that the 2024 Rex Perry Memorial Golf Outing raised $31,392.70 for the scholarship fund.
 
Treasurer’s Report                                                                                                     Tracey Regula          
Unterbrink made a motion to release funds from the golf outing and send them to the Lima Rotary Foundation, earmarked for the scholarship fund. Regula seconded the motion. Board approved.
 
Regula shared information from the club’s Profit and Loss Statement and Balance Sheet. The club’s total income through November 30, 2024 is $55,330.00. Total expenses are $44,630.43. Net income is $10,669,57. Unterbrink made a motion to approve the treasurer’s report. McLaurine seconded the motion. Board approved.

New Member Applications
A new member application was received from Josh Unterbrink, the new President and CEO of the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce. Regula made a motion to approve the application. Unterbrink seconded the motion. Board approved.
 
Judge Richard Warren gave an update on the club’s scholarship program. Eight non-traditional students were presented with $1,000 scholarships this week, bringing the total amount presented to $988,085 since 2001. Warren told the board that the Scholarship Committee is being more selective about the recipients it selects in order not to exceed the amount donated.

Mason made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Unterbrink seconded the motion. Board approved. Russ Decker adjourned the meeting at 12:26 P.M.
