Here are the highlights from the September 9 board meeting.
 
Call to Order                                                                                                               Russ Decker
President Russ Decker called the meeting to order at 11:45 A.M. with the following board members present: Russ Decker, Jennifer Mason, Aaron McLaurine, Chip Bullock, Corey Frazer and Berlin Carroll. Also, Secretary Anne Decker, Treasurer Jason Bice, and Michelle Steinke were present.

Approval of the August 12, 2025 Board Meeting Minutes
Mason made a motion to approve the minutes of the August 12, 2025 board meeting. Frazer seconded the motion. Board approved.
 
Attendance Report for August 2025
Three new members joined the club and four members resigned in August. August attendance was 39.839%. The month ended with 136 active members and 3 honorary members.

Rex Perry Memorial Golf Outing
Invoices are still outstanding for the Rex Perry Memorial Golf Outing held on August 22. It is estimated that the outing raised approximately $30,000 for the club’s scholarship fund.
 
Holiday Home Tour
Five homes have been secured for the Holiday Home Tour on December 7. Russ Decker reported that $10,000 in sponsorships has been secured, and that two bakeries, two florists and a chocolate shop will be participating. Volunteers will be sought in November.
 
Mini Pavilion Update
Russ Decker announced that the club received a $2,500 grant from Rotary District 6600 to help construct the mini pavilion at Safety City. He stated that it should cover most of the cost of materials. The district requires that the club create a separate bank account for the grant.  Carroll made a motion to create the account at Superior Credit Union where the club banks. McLaurine seconded the motion. Board approved.
Decker met with students and instructors from Apollo Career Center to begin planning construction.
The club is invited to participate in Safety City Trick or Treat on October 25. Carl Berger and Dave Cockerell from SWD are offering the club a discount on candy to pass out that day. McLaurine made a motion to approve the purchase of candy up to $350, Bice seconded the motion. Board approved.
 
District Governor’s Visit
Rotary District 6600 Governor Pam Brumbaugh will speak to the Lima Rotary Club on September 29. Russ Decker told the board that she will be spending the night in Lima. Following the meeting, he plans to give her a tour of our many community projects and invite her to dinner with board members.
 
PolioPlus
The club’s annual PolioPlus campaign will begin September 29. Chair Keith Horner is gathering prizes for the annual raffle. Also, the club will be selling Rotary wearables, with $5 from each sale going to PolioPlus. This year’s goal is $3,000.
 
Treasurer’s Report                                                                                                     Jason Bice          
Bice shared information from the club’s Profit and Loss Statement and Balance Sheet. The club’s total income through August 31, 2025 is $500.00. Total expenses are $13,710.92. Net loss is ($13,210.92).
Mason made a motion to approve the August treasurer’s report. McLaurine seconded the motion. Board approved.
 
New Business                                                                                                             Russ Decker
Resignations
McLaurine made a motion to approve the resignations of Dave Rodabaugh and Ashley Cowan-Meas with regret. Bice seconded the motion. Board approved.
 
A lengthy discussion about membership was held with a number of suggestions made for ways to increase membership.

Mason made a motion to adjourn the meeting. McLaurine seconded the motion. Board approved. Decker adjourned the meeting at 12:29 P.M.
