Allen County Children Services unveils a new foster care program.
Allen County Children Services is partnering with the Auglaize County and Hardin County Departments of Job and Family Services on a treatment foster care program to help children who have higher needs, such as emotional issues. Children Services Director Sarah Newland told us that in 2024, 345 children in Allen County were in out-of-home placement, either with relatives or under agency custody and a number of them were housed out of county. "With the rising number of kids that have special needs, higher needs and declining placements statewide, we re trying to find options to meet their needs. Through treatment foster care, each child will have individualized treatment plans and support available, along with a clinical team that will be available 24/7 to help these kids and their families.

Also at Monday's meeting, we presented the proceeds of our first quarter Rottery drawings to PolioPlus in the amount of $443.
