The Lima Rotary Club welcomed Congressman Jim Jordan.
Congressman Jim Jordan opened his remarks to the Lima Rotary Club by saying it's been an interesting congress. "We don't have many congresses where you throw out a speaker in the middle of the term, we kicked a member out of congress, it's hard to believe that some crazy guy tried to kill the former president." Congressman Jordan said that the House Judiciary Committee that he chairs has done some investigative work into the shooting and he was glad to see that Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned over the shooting. "What bothers me most is they lied to us. The day after it happened the spokesperson for the Secret Service said that it is absolutely false that we rebuffed any security request from President Trump's security detail. Five days later the spokesperson for the Secret Service said, 'Well, there were occasions they asked for things we didn't give them.' Well, dude, it can't be both. You lied to the American people." Congressman Jordan said that the investigation continues into exactly what happened. Following his opening remarks, Congressman Jordan took questions from Rotarians covering a wide range of topics including the farm bill, a balanced budget, the forgiving of student loans, the president's issuing of executive orders, and illegal aliens.
Also at Monday's meeting, Dick Schroeder presented Russ Decker with his Paul Harris pin and Anne Decker, Craig Kupferberg and Jeff Unterbrink with their Paul Harris +1 pins. Thank you for your generosity!
